Negative Calorie Food Recipes

Negative calorie foods uses more calories to digest than the calorie content of the foods themselves, resulting in a negative calorie balance. It is therefore natural to consider a diet containing these foods for quick weight loss. You can include these foods in your daily diet to make it a negative calorie diet. Use these foods in salads, soups, curries, sandwiches, burgers, vegetables, sauces, etc.

Here are some negative calorie recipes that are healthy, delicious and quick to prepare.

Lentil Spinach Vegetable Recipe

Lentil spinach vegetable involves lentil and spinach as the main ingredients. Both lentil and spinach provides high fiber and other nutrients necessary for weight loss and keeping fit.

Serves: This recipe serves 4

Ingredients:

One cup mung lentil (with skin)
One cup spinach, finely chopped
One tomato, chopped
One green chili, chopped
One inch ginger, grated
One clove garlic, crushed
Half teaspoon coriander or parsley leaves, finely chopped
Two teaspoon fresh lime/ lemon juice
3-4 cups water

Spices

¾ teaspoon red chili powder
¾ teaspoon black peeper powder or to taste
Salt to taste

Method of Preparation:

1. Wash mung lentil thoroughly. Soak in water for about one hour.
2. Take a deep non stick skillet and put all the ingredients. Once the water boils, cover 3/4 of the skillet with a lid and let the ingredients cook till the lentil becomes soft, about 20 minutes.
3. Serve, hot.

Cabbage Creamy Soup Recipe

Cabbage is one of the major negative calorie foods. It is a well known vegetable used in weight loss. This vegetable soup is healthy, tasty and easy to prepare.

Serves: This recipe serves 6

Ingredients:

1. Five large onions, chopped
2. Two capsicum, chopped
3. Two tomatoes, chopped
4. Cabbage, 1 large, chopped
5. One cup celery stalks, washed, trimmed and sliced
6. One tablespoon parsley or coriander, finely chopped
7. Half teaspoon black peeper, powdered, or to taste
8. Salt to taste

Methods of Preparation:

1. Boil water in a deep skillet and put vegetables. Cover with a lid and boil for 10 minutes. Simmer on medium heat until vegetables are soft.
2. Strain out the vegetables pieces and puree them in the blender. Mix the puree in the liquid.
3. Mix black peeper and salt.
4. Garnish with parsley or coriander leaves.
