A double chin is a layer of subcutaneous fat which is located around the neck that sags down giving an awkward and sometimes a hideous appearance. The double chin is also responsible for creating the wrinkles which gives the appearance of the presence of a second chin. It is very common in people who are old or affected by obesity.

A person of average weight can also acquire a double chin; this depends on the individuals bone structure, the amount of loose skin and the fat cell deposition in the region. It is more noticeable when the bottom jaw is lowered or the head is tilted down.

There are many ways to get rid of double chins. The surgical way to lose the chin is to have a cosmetic surgeon who can remove the amount of excess fat that exhibits the double chin growth. The non-surgical method involves performing many double chin exercises and face exercises to lose that fat.

There are a number of double chin exercises which can be performed to get rid of the problem. The following face exercises to lose chin fat when followed strictly gets rid of double chins, makes a triple chin into a double chin, removes the fat and thus reduces chubby cheeks, gives a chiselled jawline and produces more prominent cheekbones.

Fitness experts worldwide agree to the fact that there are no specific exercises to reduce double chins but its reduction can be accomplished by the diminution of overall body fat.

In this double chin exercise, the mouth is to be opened as wide as possible, the lower lip and jaw is then stretched over the top row teeth. This helps to tighten the area around the chin and will definitely help reducing the affected part over there. This exercise is to be repeated five to ten times.

Another effective exercise is the chin lift. It stretches and tones up the various facial muscles of the face. The person should sit erect and tilt his or her head backwards until he or she is able to look at the ceiling. The lips should be pursed tightly, as if you want to kiss the ceiling. Use only the lips and do not use any other facial muscles in this exercise. Hold your lips for a five seconds and then release. This exercise is to be repeated for about five to ten times.

The individual should sit straight and inhale while turning the head to one side such that the chin touches the shoulder. Exhalation follows and slowly the head is lowered such that the chin rests on the chest. Inhaling is done again and the head is moved to the other side such that the chin touches the shoulder. This exercise is to be repeated for about five to ten times.

The region under the chin is gently slapped with the back of the hand. Speed is built up whilst the slapping process and this is repeated for a couple of minutes. This exercise is done two to three times a day.

These double chin exercises produce results when performed over the course of months but are however effective face exercises to lose its fat.
